Kenny draws on his background as a journalist and award-winning novelist to create catchy, radio-friendly songs, shaping vivid narratives with efficiency. Kenny's professional writing career is driven by his motto that "The right life is writing life."

Kenny frequently works out of Nashville. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), and he is an active member of Nashville Songwriters Association International, Global Songwriters Connection, and the SongTown country music writing community.

The Nashville Songwriters Association International has named indie songwriter Kenny Joel Baker's song demo, "Let's Steal Time," as "One to Watch." The NSAI regularly recognizes members with songs that "stand out to the evaluator as a unique idea, an outstanding song, or a song they feel is ready to be pitched."
